It Is Safe - Continued

The bible asks, “Who are we that God is mindful of us (Psalm 8:4)? I’ll tell you exactly who we are. We are the people of God that are never absent from His mind. The word mindful used in this context means to lust after. Now I’m sure that may seem to be a bit extreme, but it’s the truth. We serve a God whose very thoughts, ideas, plans and desires are consumed with both you and me.

As we lay down to sleep or as we are arising for a new day, God’s mind is consumed only with good, and this good is for us. It is this good which is safe for us. And I can attest to this with great assurance that as committed believers in the body of Christ, we will only experience that which is safe for us. And that which is safe for us will neither harm nor destroy us.

You may wonder and ask, “How can you say this with such great confidence?” Well, it’s actually quite simple. I declare this with such great confidence because God declares it with such great confidence. He said there is no weapon that is formed against us that shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Of course He never said that they would not be formed, but He did say that they would not prosper. I’ll give you an excellent example.

There was a season in my life when I humbled myself before God and I would constantly seek Him in prayer to be more like Him. Well, any experienced believer in the body of Christ knows that when we sincerely seek God for attributes such as being more like Him (which no doubt require cleansing), the next thing that we will experience is not necessarily an immediate lifestyle of holiness, righteousness and virtue. However, that’s what I thought. Actually, the next thing that I began to see were some weapons being formed, and I mean some really good weapons. Yet, I can boldly decree and declare today that the Lord God Almighty is my helper. This is because not a single one of the devil’s weapons were able to prosper.

Anytime we seek God for His Spirit or to be more like Him, and we find ourselves being tested and tried before we see the manifestation of those characteristics, we must know that it is a work of the devil (which God has allowed), and that it won’t prosper. We can know this because the bible says that we have weapons ourselves. It is written that the weapons we have are for warfare; these weapons are not carnal, but they are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, to the casting down of vain imaginations, and every high thing that would dare exalt itself against the knowledge of God. Our weapons bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. (II Corinthians 10:4-5). ...NEXT PAGE
