This entire book stems off of a word which God spoke into my spirit one night during a time when I chose to encourage myself in the Lord. He simply spoke this:
“Fret not yourself because of evil doers, for they shall soon be cut off. What you look at now is temporary. For your light affliction which is but for a moment, it’s working a more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Don’t worry about people trying to make you feel bad, because you are in the will of God. And as long as you are in the will of God, whatever you are going through now, it’s safe for you.”
I have often heard ministers of the gospel teach that you will never get to your next level in God until you learn how to encourage yourself. It is so easy to become complacent with always seeking the tangible man for words to comfort us when we are undergoing periods of difficulty in our lives, but the heart of God is for us to seek Him for His words.
Anyone who is anybody has had at least one experience of when you have put your trust in someone, only to be hurt and disappointed. It is for God to be praised that He is always faithful and true, and that He will never leave us, neither will he forsake us. He has told us that it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man (Psalm 118:8).
God is our Father, and He is a magnificent Father. The bible says that we have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but that we have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Ab’ba, Father. It is written that the Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God (Romans 8:15-16).
Based on these scriptures, I challenge you to think about this: Why is it that the first thing that a good parent always wants to know before they give their child anything is whether or not it is safe for their child? The reason is because if it’s not safe, it could harm the child or even destroy him.
We as believers in the body of Christ must always consider this every moment of our lives. This is the type of Father that we serve. This is the Father we are invited to have an intimate relationship with, and also the Father whom we invite to have an intimate relationship with us. He is that good parent and the bible says that every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17). It is on this premise that we must have settled within our very heart that as we are seeking God for His will and purpose in our life, and yet finding ourselves suffering persecution, that this is when we are dwelling right in the center of God’s safety. During these times, as well as in all other times, we must know without a doubt that we are not far from God. God’s promise to us is, “My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness” (II Corinthians 12:9). ...NEXT PAGE
